FAQs

What if I don’t know what style of cake I want?

Awesome! This is the best way to order a Sundbakes cake. I will design a cake especially for you based on the vibe you would like to achieve. Just describe the recipient or event in your order, and let me work my magic.

Can you copy a picture I found online?

I specialize in one-of-a-kind, hand-painted cakes and macarons. Each bake is unique and designed specifically for that client. I’ve worked hard to develop my own style, and respect the time other cake designers put into their work. I cannot copy another designer’s work. By staying true to my baking values of creativity, flavor, and beauty, I can ensure the cake is designed specifically for you. You deserve an original, not a copy.

But I really want a specific design I’ve seen online…

I totally understand. I’m happy to refer you to another talented local baker who does the style you are looking for, such as fondant cakes or traditional sugar cookies. My goal is for you to fall in love with your bakes, even if that means another baker is a better fit your current needs.

When should I place my order?

I book up fast, so the earlier you can place your order the better. Please place your order at least two weeks before the pick up date at the latest. Remember that orders are not official until you have made full payment for your order.

What if I need to cancel?

If you need to cancel your order and have already paid in full, please inform me by email at least 14 days before the pick up date for a 50% refund. Orders cancelled less than two weeks prior to the pick up date will not be eligible for a refund.

How will we communicate?

All communication will be conducted over email. It is vital that you add elizabeth.sund@gmail.com to your safe emails addresses so that my emails don’t get stuck in spam.

How do I get my bakes when they are ready?

Most people pick up their goodies from my home. I package cakes in a high quality protective box. Place your cake on a flat surface and drive very carefully! I cannot be held responsible for the bakes once they are in your possession.

I can deliver within Minot starting at $30 upon request. Set up is not included in this price.

How should I store my bakes?

Cakes are best stored in your refrigerator and eaten within two days. Bring the cake to room temperature for thirty minutes prior to eating. Heat sealed cookies last about two weeks at room temperature. Macarons should be kept refrigerated, then allowed to come to room temperature on the counter for 20 minutes before eating. Macarons should be eaten within one or two days.

Please never leave bakes out in summer heat or direct sunlight. Your cakes and macarons will melt.

Can you ship bakes to me?

According to the cottage laws that govern home bakeries, I am limited to selling within the state of North Dakota and cannot ship. Thank you for your interest!

Can you make gluten or allergy free bakes?

All Sundbakes products are made in my home kitchen, with supplies that are regularly used to process nuts and gluten. Therefore, persons with any nut, gluten, or other food allergies consume bakes at their own risk. Unfortunately, I cannot create allergy safe bakes because of these limitations.

Will you donate to my fundraiser?

I bet your fundraiser is great! I focus my Sundbakes donation efforts on the Minot Public Library. Narrowing my donation focus helps me balance my workload as a solo-entrepreneur.

Can you paint anything I want on a cookie or macaron?

I can usually come up with a creative way to incorporate any theme. However, I also want to be sure my bakes make everyone who looks at them feel happy and respected. Therefore, I do not create cakes with certain logos, phrases, or themes. I appreciate your understanding.
